A Student Recruitment Specialist in Washington, D.C. plays a crucial role in building relationships with prospective families and connecting them to a Friendship School. The focus is on active, grassroots engagement and ensuring families are supported throughout the enrollment process.

Please note the salary range for this role is $55,000 - $85,000.
Responsibilities
1. Community Outreach and Relationship Building
- Actively engage with local communities, including attending neighborhood events, faith-based gatherings, and cultural festivals, to connect with prospective families.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and feeder schools to identify and reach potential students.
- Visit community centers, libraries, and other hubs where families gather to provide information about the school and its programs.
2. Direct Engagement with Families
- Personally meet with families in their neighborhoods, homes, or at community events to discuss Friendship’s offerings and benefits.
- Conduct one-on-one or small group conversations to address specific needs, concerns, and aspirations of prospective families.
- Act as a consistent point of contact throughout the enrollment process, offering hands-on support with applications and paperwork.
3. Hosting Informational Sessions and School Visits
- Organize and lead school tours, open houses, and informational sessions to introduce families to the school environment and its staff.
- Attend parent meetings and community forums to share updates about enrollment opportunities and deadlines.
- Facilitate introductions between prospective families and current parents, students, or teachers to build trust and rapport.
4. On-the-Ground Recruitment
- Proactively seek out families to ensure equitable access to enrollment opportunities.
- Visit childcare centers, preschools, and after-school programs to identify potential students and share information about the school.
- Travel to neighborhoods to distribute enrollment information and answer questions in person.
5. Collaborating with the School Community
- Work closely with Friendship Principals, teachers, staff, and current families to identify potential referrals and opportunities for engagement.
- Attend Friendship events and activities to foster connections between prospective families and the existing school community.
- Communicate feedback from families to school leadership to improve outreach efforts.
6. Data-Driven Outreach
- Use enrollment data and demographic insights to identify key areas for targeted outreach.
- Regularly update leadership on outreach efforts and community feedback to align goals with enrollment needs.

This role requires an on-the-ground, people-first approach to student recruitment, emphasizing community presence and relationship building over traditional marketing methods.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or higher
- Strong verbal, and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Charter Schools and their policies.
- Knowledge of Washington, DC communities and neighborhoods
